Do Macs have delete keys?
Submitted by alanhogan on July 12, 2007 - 9:25am.
Tip | Apple | keyboards | Mac | MacBook Pro
Recently, someone asked me, “Is there a Delete button on a Mac?”
Yes and no. The primary key labeled Delete is where the Backspace button was, and works mostly the same way. Sometimes that Delete is called the Backwards Delete, and sometimes pressing it will delete the currently selected item. (Other times, Cmd – the Apple key – should be held down at the same time as you press Delete.)
Full-size Apple keyboards, but not those on laptops like the MacBook and MacBook Pro, also have a "Forward Delete" key approximately where the Delete key would be on typical Windows keyboards.
Edit: As a kind reader noted below, pressing Fn+Delete on Apple laptops invokes Forward Delete (like the Windows delete key).
Does that clear it all up? If not, write me and I will expand this tip!

Page Outdated! Comments disabled!
As do many people using Drupal to power their website, I get a lot of comment spam, and Drupal's spam filter is horrible! So I have permanently disabled comments on old.alanhogan.com. Try the new version of this page (which may not exist, but should if this page actually has content besides a list of other articles).
Consider using my contact form to get in touch. And remember that AlanHogan.com is live and old.alanhogan.com is here as a backup only, and a stopgap measure because some AlanHogan.com functionality is not implemented yet.
